As we head into the holiday season, many of us are putting a great deal of energy into planning and preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner, our holiday decorating, and our gift lists. All the details of the Thanksgiving dinner. Perhaps we'll get family pictures for the Christmas cards, and it's very important that everyone knows what to wear so we'll coordinate rather than clash. We might be thinking ahead to what we'll wear to holiday parties, and which holiday activities we'll make time for in a busy schedules. Maybe we're poring over wish lists and worrying that we get the perfect gift for each person on our list.
None of those things are bad or wrong. But we need to keep them in perspective. God is the one that supplies all our needs and generously blesses us with so many of our wants and desires! Relationships matter so much more than what we wear for the family photo, or put the perfect meal with all the trimmings on the perfectly set table. This Thanksgiving, consider the lilies. And be truly thankful.
