From This Moment by Elizabeth Camden - I loved this book, which has elements of a detective thriller or mystery intertwined with the historical setting romance. It takes place in 1897 Boston, where the celebrated London artist and lithographer Stella West has set aside her usual fashion and flair to work at City Hall in hopes of finding clues to her sister's mysterious death. Stella believes her sister was murdered, and is unwilling to let anything deter her from getting to the truth. Nobody seems willing to help her, or even cooperate with her, until she meets Romulus White. Romulus is the publisher of a respected scientific magazine, and is well-connected in Boston society, and he has been pursuing her for years in hopes of bringing her on board as an artist for the magazine. Stella is resistant, but she does need his help, and they both unwillingly recognize that the attraction between them is very strong. They develop a friendship, but Romulus doesn't want a serious relationship, especially with a woman that works for him.

Their troubles multiply when Stella continues to run into brick walls in her investigation, and when Romulus's magazine is threatened with legal action that could ruin him. Romulus feels that the magazine is the only thing he's ever been successful with, and will do whatever it takes to keep it running. Stella finally has a breakthrough as she hunts for answers about her sister, but will either one of them be able to focus on anything but their own concerns so they can work together? And when Stella's life is in danger, will Romulus be able to get to her in time?

Unusual, quirky, and flawed characters; and an exciting but well-researched story add up to another winner from Elizabeth Camden!

From the publisher:

Stella West's artistic talent made her the toast of London, but when her beloved sister dies under mysterious circumstances she abandons everything and heads for Boston. With single-minded determination she fights to pierce the ring of secrecy surrounding her sister's death. Upon meeting Romulus White, a publisher with connections into every important power circle in the city, she quickly realizes he could be a valuable ally in navigating Boston society.

Romulus has been pursuing Stella for years to create art for his magazine. Her luminous illustrations are the missing piece he needs to propel his magazine to the forefront of the industry, and he will stop at nothing to get her on board.

Sparks fly the instant they join forces, but Romulus is unsettled by the unwelcome attraction he feels toward Stella, fearing she might be the one woman who could disrupt his hard-won independence. He may have finally met his match in Stella, but is helping her solve the mystery of her sister's death worth the risk to his publishing empire?
